Kianna’s Success Story
Kianna Hill, along with fourteen others, graduated from our Introduction to Healthcare Employment and Apprenticeship Program (IHAP) in partnership with Seattle Jobs Initiative in the Spring of 2024. IHAP is an innovative employment program that trains entry-level job seekers for careers in the healthcare sector. This free program consists of two phases. The first, is a 3 week Healthcare Foundations class during which candidates explore available healthcare careers and develop healthcare workplace readiness.
At the Spring 2024 IHAP graduation Kianna was a class speaker and shared her experience finding the IHAP program:
“I want to start off with saying that my passion is caregiving. Unfortunately, I struggled with addiction issues. My addiction ended up taking me away from my family, my friends, my passion. I had to change the people and places around me. I’m actually gaining two years of sobriety this month. I decided to work in the IHAP program, after I saw others complete the IHAP program and the NA-C program. This is an opportunity to get back into my passion.”
Kianna then went on to complete Phase 2 of IHAP, the NA-C training program. Candidates complete online classes, hands-on labs, and clinicals. It includes everything that participants will need to succeed: all supplies, vaccination and clinical readiness assistance, scrubs, tutoring, test registration & preparation.
“I really learned a ton from doing my clinicals. The training I went through has helped me be able to jump right in to my new NAC job at Kline Galland Home. I am consistently using the skills I obtained throughout IHAP as well as my NAC courses. I absolutely love being able to make my residents smile and make their days better.”
